Sorrel is an extremely popular leaf vegetable used in salads and cooking throughout the world. The plant is rather small with oblong leaves similar to spinach which gives it its nickname Spinach Duck. The plant has a sharp taste and can be used for a whole variety of dishes; it can be used in soups, salads and sauces and has even ben used occasionally to make drinks.
However, sorrel is also a known laxative so be careful how much you eat.
In Indian cooking sorrel is known as ambada bhaji or gongoora.
