Mizithra in our A-Z - Cooking Index
Mizithra is a soft unpasteurised Greek cheese made from sheep or goats milk. It is a soft, white, creamy cheese with a granular texture similar to the Italian ricotta cheese or cottage cheese.
It is made in a variety of shapes but in Greece you will most often find it in a cone shape. It is served either as a starter/appetiser with olives and other mezze or as a dessert with honey.
When Mizithra is aged it becomes Xinomyzithra, which is a good general grating cheese.
