Seven-Layer Casserole Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 160g / 5.6oz | Rice - uncooked |
16 oz | 454g | Tomato sauce |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Onion - chopped |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Hamburger |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Corn - whole kernel, drained |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Water - divided |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Green pepper - chopped |
Saute the hamburger to remove excess fat.
In a 2 quart casserole layer the ingredients as follows: rice, corn, salt and pepper, 1/2 of the tomato sauce, 1/2 cup water, onion, green pepper, ground beef, remaining tomato sauce and water.
Cover and bake at 350F for 1 hour.
Uncover and continue cooking another 25 minutes. A few slices of cheese placed on top adds a nice touch the last ten minutes.
