Meat Loaf - Classic from LHJ Recipe - Cooking Index
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vegetable oil |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Chopped onion |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Lean ground beef |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Egg (large) |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Fresh bread crumbs |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Ketchup |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Worcestershire sauce |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Freshly ground pepper |
Mashed potatoes and green beans |
1. Heat oven to 350F Heat oil in small skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool.
2. Combine remaining ingredients except potatoes and beans in large bowl; mix well. Stir in onion. Spoon mixture into an 8x4-inch loaf pan.
3. Bake 45 to 50 minutes until meat thermometer inserted in center registers 165F. Cool in pan 5 minutes. Unmold and serve with mashed potatoes and green beans. Makes 8 servings.
Prep time: 20 minutes Baking time: 45 to 50 minutes
