Indian Spiced Beef And Vegetables Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 lbs | 681g / 24oz | Ground beef |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cumin seeds |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Onion - finely chopped (large) |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Ground coriander |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Tomato juice |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Garam masala* |
1 cup | 237ml | Peas - thawed |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cayenne pepper |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Salt |
Freshly cooked rice | ||
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Ground cumin |
Cook beef and onion in heavy large skillet over medium heat until met is no longer pink, crumbling with fork, about 10 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients, except rice.
Cover and cook 15 minutes. Serve with rice.
GARAM MASALA - An Indian spice mixture available at Indian or specialty markets.
Make your own Garam Masala: mix 3/4 tsp ground cumin with 3/4 tsp ground coriander, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, 1/4 tsp ground cloves, and 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon. Use 1/2 tsp of spice mixture for this recipe.
