3 1/2 cups | 218g / 7.7oz | Flour |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking powder |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Oil |
1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | White raisins |
1 1/4 cups | 247g / 8.7oz | Sugar |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Chopped walnuts |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Grated orange peel |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Cognac |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
2 cups | 474ml | Orange juice |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Cinnamon |
Cinnamon for sprinkling | ||

Sift flour into ceramic bowl and mix the baking powder; scoop out a well in center. Heat oil in frying pan and pour into the flour. Add raisins, sugar, nuts, orange peel, cognac, baking soda dissolved in the orange juice, and cinnamon. Mix to make a stiff dough.
Put into a buttered tube pan or baking pan and bake in preheated 300F. oven for about1 hour. As soon as you remove it from the oven, sprinkle with the cinnamon and confectioner's sugar.
