German Applesauce Meatloaf Aunt Matilda Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 lbs | 681g / 24oz | Ground beef |
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Ground pork |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Onion - fine chopped |
1 cup | 237ml | Applesauce |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Egg (large) |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Bread crumbs - (see note) |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Ketchup |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Pepper - black |
Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly coat a 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan with oil.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Place meatloaf mixture in pan.
Bake 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Let cool 10 - 15 minutes. Turn out of pan. Slice and serve.
NOTE: if necessary, add more bread crumbs, a tablespoon at a time, to make loaf firm.
