Flemish Beer Stew Recipe - Cooking Index
2 lbs | 908g / 32oz | Beef stew - cut into 1" cubes |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Salt |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Pepper |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Butter |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Flour |
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Onions - sliced thin (medium) |

2 | Beer | |
1 cup | 237ml | Beef broth |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Thyme |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Marjoram |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Chopped parsley |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Distilled vinegar |
Mix flour, salt and pepper. roll beef cubes in it and brown in half the butter. after browning, sprinkle remaining flour over meat and mix well.
In separate skillet, saute onions and garlic in remaining butter.
Add to meat and stir in the remaining ingredients except vinegar.
Heat to boiling, cover and lower heat and simmer slowly for 2 hours. Stir in vinegar shortly before serving. Serve over noodles or rice.
