Grilled Tuna Steaks With Mango Basil Relish Recipe - Cooking Index
4 | Eight-ounce tuna steaks 3/4" to 1" thick | |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-cracked black pepper - to taste | ||
For Relish | ||
2 | Mangos - peeled, pitted, | |
And diced into 1/4" cubes | ||
(pears may be substituted) | ||
1/2 | Red bell pepper - cored, seeded | |
And diced into 1/4" cubes | ||
1/2 cup | 118ml | Orange juice |
Juice of 2 limes - (abt 4 tbspns) | ||
1/4 cup | 36g / 1.3oz | Chopped fresh basil |
Salt - to taste | ||
Freshly-cracked black pepper - to taste |
Mix together all relish ingredients and set aside.
Rinse tuna under cold water, pat dry, salt and pepper to taste and brush lightly with vegetable oil. Over a medium hot fire, grill tuna 3 to 6 minutes per side, turning once, until just opaque throughout.
Remove tuna from grill and serve each portion accompanied by several tablespoons of the relish.
This recipe yields 4 servings.
