2 cups | 474ml | Basic Tomato Sauce - (see recipe) |
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Round tomatoes - cut 1/4" cubes (medium) |
1/4 cup | 10g / 0.4oz | Basil leaves, stems removed |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Ziti pasta |
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Fresh mozzarella - cut 1/4" cubes |
Place 6 quarts water to boil and add 2 tablespoons salt. In a 12- to 14-inch saute pan, place Basic Tomato Sauce and tomatoes and bring to a boil. Lower heat to simmer and add basil leaves without stirring.
Cook pasta according to package instructions, until just short of "al dente". Drain in colander and toss into pan with tomatoes and basil. Add mozzarella pieces and toss over medium heat until cheese is just melting. Pour into warm bowls and serve immediately.
This recipe yields 4 servings.
