Italian Tomato Sauce - 1 Recipe - Cooking Index
| 3 tablespoons | 45ml | Olive oil |
| 13 oz | 369g | Canned tomatoes - chopped |
| 2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Chopped onions |
| 6 oz | 170g | Tomato paste |
| 1 oz | 28g | Bell pepper - diced (medium) |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Honey |
| 2 teaspoons | 10ml | Basil |
| Black pepper - lots | ||
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Oregano |
| 6 | Garlic cloves - minced | |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Thyme |
| Parsley | ||
| 1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Salt |
Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven. Add onion, bell pepper, herbs and salt. Sauteeover medium heat until the onion is fairly soft, 8 to 10 minutes.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste, honey and black pepper. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer, partially covered, for 20 to 30 minutes.
Add garlic and cook 10 minutes more. Either let the sauce sit for a couple of hours or serve now.
Serve over spaghetti and with homemade garlic bread.
