1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Roast - (to 1 1/2 lbs) - coarsely chopped |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Chopped onions - (to 1 1/2 cups) |
1 1/2 cups | 219g / 7.7oz | Chopped green peppers - (to 2 cups) |
1 | Tomato paste - (6 oz) | |
1/4 cup | 40g / 1.4oz | Brown sugar - (packed) |
1/8 cup | 29ml | Dark vinegar |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Chili powder |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Worcestershire sauce |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Dry mustard |
Set slow cooker on High. Add ingredients one at a time in order (roast, chopped onions, chopped green peppers, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, chili powder, salt, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard). Do not mix or stir.
After 1 hour, turn to LOW and cook 8 to 10 hours. Stir off and on for last hour. Shred and serve on warmed buns.
