1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Butter or margarine - melted |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Half-and-half or milk |
1/4 cup | 36g / 1.3oz | Parmesan cheese |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Dried minced onion |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Dried mustard |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Italian seasonings - (optional) |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Nutmeg |
1 1/2 cups | 219g / 7.7oz | Shredded Swiss or Monterey Jack cheese |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Diced ham |
In a medium bowl, mix biscuit mix, eggs, butter, half-and-half (or milk), Parmesan cheese, onion, mustard, salt and pepper. Or mix in a blender or food processor for 30 seconds.
Sprinkle cheese and ham on the bottom of a lightly greased 9-inch pie plate or fluted quiche dish. Pour egg mixture over all. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
This recipe yields 4 servings.
Variations:
u Substitute 6 ounces cooked bulk sausage for ham.
u Substitute 8 to 10 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled, for ham.
u Substitute 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese for Swiss.
u Add 1 package frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry.
u Add 1 medium onion, chopped, sauteed and drained.
u Add 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms, sauteed and drained.
