| 1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Ground beef or turkey |
| 1 | Red kidney beans - (14 1/2 oz) - undrained | |
| 1 | Tomato sauce - (8 oz) | |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | McCormick chili powder |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Mccormick California-style minced onion |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | McCormick California-style garlic salt |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Sugar |
| 1 | Corn muffin mix - (8 oz) | |
| 1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Shredded cheddar cheese |
| 1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Sliced green onion |
In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat; drain. Stir in next six (6) ingredients. Bring to boil; reduce heat, simmer 10 minutes.
Prepare muffin mix according to package directions. Drop small spoonfuls of muffin batter over meat mixture in skillet. Gently spread batter to cover meat mixture completely. Cover and cook 15 to 17 minutes or until corn bread is done.
Top with cheese and green onion. Cover and cook over low heat until cheese melts.
This recipe yields 6 servings.
