Joy's Turkey Loaf Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 lbs | 681g / 24oz | Ground turkey meat |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Onion - finely chopped (medium) |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Raw egg (large) |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Milk, dry white wine, or beer |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Homemade bread crumbs |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Chopped fresh thyme or oregano leaves |
(or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano) | ||
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Salt |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Hard-boiled eggs - optional (large) |
1 | Bay leaf |
In a large bowl, mix together the turkey, onion, raw egg, milk, crumbs, thyme, and salt. Place half the mixture in a 1 1/2-quart dish. Cut the hard-boiled eggs, if using, in half lengthwise and place the halves end to end in the center of the turkey mixture. Cover with the remaining turkey and press the bay leaf into the center on top.
Microwave, uncovered, on High for 15 minutes, or until the sides pull away from the dish and the loaf is firm but not hard in the center. Let stand for 10 minutes. Serve right away, at room temperature, or chilled.
