Cheese-Onion Bake Recipe - Cooking Index

1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Butter - (or marg.) |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Flour - all-purpose |
2 cups | 474ml | Milk |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Pepper |
2 cups | 292g / 10oz | American cheese - shredded |
Cut onions into thin slices; separate into rings. Place onion rings in an ungreased 1-1/2 quart casserole. Melt butter in saucepan; blend in flour, and gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Add salt, pepper, and cheese; stir until cheese has melted. Pour sauce over onions. Bake, uncovered, at 325F about 45 minutes.
