Garden-Style Turkeyloaf Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 lbs | 681g / 24oz | Ground turkey breast |
1 | Frozen chopped spinach - (10 oz) - thawed, drained | |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned) - uncooked |
1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Finely-chopped onion |
1/2 cup | 55g / 1.9oz | Shredded carrots |
2 | Egg whites or 1 egg - lightly beaten | |
1/3 cup | 78ml | Skim milk |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Italian seasoning |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt - (optional) |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape mixture into 9- by 5-inch loaf in baking pan.
Bake 1 hour or until thermometer registers 170 degrees and center is no longer pink. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
This recipe yields 8 servings.
Variation: Substitute 1/2 cup finely-chopped green or red bell pepper for spinach.
