| 1 | Chicken - cut up | |
| 2 | Stewed tomatoes | |
| 2 teaspoons | 10ml | Salt |
| 1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Black pepper |
| 3/4 cup | 177ml | Cooked smoked ham - cubed |
| 1 cup | 160g / 5.6oz | Uncooked rice |
| 1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Onion - sliced (large) |
| 3 cups | 711ml | Cabbage - shredded |
| 1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Fresh green beans -- |
| Quartered | ||
| And stems removed or | ||
| 1 | Frozen beans | |
| 1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Ground cinnamon |
| 1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cayenne pepper |
Pour water into a large pot. Add the chicken, tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Cover; bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Stir in the ham, rice, onion, cabbage, green beans, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer until the chicken is fork-tender and the rice is cooked, 25-30 minutes.
