Pizza Stuffed Bread Recipe - Cooking Index
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Italian style sausage |
1 | Loaf - (1 lb.) fresh or Italian | |
Bread - unsliced | ||
1 cup | 237ml | Italian tomato sauce or pizza sauce |
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Mozzarella cheese - shredded |
Crumble sausage into frying pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sausage is not pink. Drain. Split the bread horizontally, lengthwise but do not cut it all the way through, just so that it "hinges" open.
Spoon pizza sauce over the cut surface of the bread. Top with the cooked sausage. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over. Close the bread sandwich style.
Wrap in foil. Bake at 350Funtil heated through and cheese is melted, 15-20 minutes. To serve, unwrap. Cut into thick slices.
