1 | Onion - finely chopped | |
1 | Garlic clove - minced | |
1 | Tomato sauce - (8 oz) | |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Tomato soup - (optional) |
1 cup | 237ml | Water - or more if needed |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Chili powder |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Salt |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Paprika |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cumin |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cayenne |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Masa flour - (to 1/3) - mixed with about |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Water |
Saute meat in large saucepan. Add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is soft. Stir in remaining ingredients, except flour, cover and simmer 1 hour.
Remove lid and simmer until excess moisture evaporates (don't let it get too dry). Add flour and cook until thickened, 5 to 10 minutes.
