Spice Beer Cake Recipe - Cooking Index
3 cups | 187g / 6.6oz | Flour |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Allspice |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cloves |
2 cups | 320g / 11oz | Brown sugar - packed |
2 | Eggs - beaten | |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Shortening |
1 cup | 160g / 5.6oz | Raisins or chopped dates |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Pecans or walnuts-- chopped |
2 cups | 474ml | Beer |
Sift together dry ingredients. Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs.
Mix fruit and nuts with 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture. Add flour mixture alternately with beer.
Stir in fruit and nuts.
Pour into a greased and floured 10-in tube pan and bake at 350F for 1 hour, or until cake tests done.
Or pour into a greased and floured 9x13 in pan and bake at 350F for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until cake tests done.
