Spice Beer Cake

Recipe Ingredients

3 cups 187g / 6.6ozFlour
2 teaspoons 10mlBaking soda
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlSalt
1 teaspoon 5mlCinnamon
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlAllspice
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlCloves
2 cups 320g / 11ozBrown sugar - packed
2   Eggs - beaten
1 cup 198g / 7ozShortening
1 cup 160g / 5.6ozRaisins or chopped dates
1 cup 146g / 5.1ozPecans or walnuts-- chopped
2 cups 474mlBeer

Recipe Instructions

Sift together dry ingredients. Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs.

Mix fruit and nuts with 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture. Add flour mixture alternately with beer.

Stir in fruit and nuts.

Pour into a greased and floured 10-in tube pan and bake at 350F for 1 hour, or until cake tests done.

Or pour into a greased and floured 9x13 in pan and bake at 350F for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until cake tests done.
