1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Sugar |
1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Butter |
1 | Beaten egg | |
1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | Sifted flour |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Nuts |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Dates - chopped |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Soda |
1 cup | 237ml | Boiling water |
Pour the water over the dates and soda. Let sit while mixing the other ingredients then add the date mixture.
Pour into prepared 8 " pan and bake in 350 oven 35 minutes
ICING: 5 tbs brown sugar, 5 tbs cream, 2 tbs butter.
Put in saucepan and bring to boil and boil 3 min, remove from heat and cool.
I thicken this with icing sugar to spread.
