Maraschino Party Cake Recipe - Cooking Index
| 2 1/4 cups | 140g / 4.9oz | Flour |
| 1 1/3 cups | 263g / 9.3oz | Sugar |
| 3 teaspoons | 15ml | Baking powder |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
| 1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Shortening |
| 1/4 cup | 59ml | Maraschino cherry juice |
| 16 | Maraschino cherries - cut into eighths | |
| 1/2 cup | 118ml | Milk |
| 2/3 cup | 131g / 4.6oz | Egg whites - unbeaten |
| 4 cups | 792g / 27oz | Eggs (large) |
| 1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Nuts - chopped |
Sift together in mixing bowl flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add shortening, cherry juice, cherries and milk. Mix on slow to medium speed for 2 minutes.
Add egg whites and continue beating 2 more minutes. Add nuts.
Bake in two layers in 350F oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Ice with 7 minute icing and decorate with cherries.
