Carolina Dream Cake Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Butter or margarine - softened |
2 cups | 396g / 13oz | Sugar |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla extract |
3 1/4 cups | 203g / 7.2oz | All-purpose flour - sifted |
3 1/2 teaspoons | 17ml | Baking powder |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Salt |
1 cup | 237ml | Milk |

Carolina dream frosting |
Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add vanilla, mixing well.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition.
Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until stiff peaks form; fold whites into batter.
Grease three 9-inch round cake pans, and line with wax paper; grease wax paper. Pour batter into prepared pans; bake at 350F for 18 to 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans, and let cool completely on wire racks.
Spread Carolina Dream Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.
Yield: one 3-layer cake.
