Cake-Pan Cake Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | Unbleached all-purpose flour |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Sugar |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Unsweetened cocoa |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Instant coffee or espresso |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Black pepper - (to 2 tsp) |
6 tablespoons | 90ml | Oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Vinegar |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
1 cup | 237ml | Cold water or strong coffee |
Pre-heat oven to 350F.
Then, in a 9"x9" cake pan, measure and blend thoroughly with a fork the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, instant coffee powder, and salt. Next, make 3 indentations in the dry ingredients with your fork. Into the first, pour 6 tbs of oil. Into the second, pour 1 tbs. vinegar.
Into the third, pour 1 tsp. vanilla. Then, over all ingredients, pour 1 cup of cold water or strong, cold coffee. Stir with a fork until evenly blended.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve alone, with whipped cream, ice cream, or your favorite frosting.
