Basic Old Fashioned Pound Cake

Recipe Ingredients

1 cup 198g / 7ozMargarine - room temperature
1 1/2 cups 297g / 10ozSugar
5   Eggs - room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons 7.5mlVanilla
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlSalt
2 cups 125g / 4.4ozCake flour or 1 3/4 cup all -
  Purpose flour

Recipe Instructions

Heat oven to 325F Lightly grease a 9 x 5 x 3 bread pan.

Beat margarine until a bowl until smooth, about 30 seconds. With mixer on low speed, gradually add sugar. Increase speed to high and beat until light and fluffy. With mixer on still on high, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Add vanilla and salt and beat until very pale in color and increased in volume. With a rubber spatula mix in flour, about a third of a cup at a time until smooth.

Scrape batter into prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until pick inserted in middle comes out clean. Cool cake in pan for 15 minutes.

Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
