Spanish Rice (Quick 'n Easy Home Cooking Version) Recipe - Cooking Index
1/4 cup | 59ml | Vegetable oil |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Onion - sliced (medium) |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Green pepper - chopped |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Ground beef |
1 cup | 160g / 5.6oz | Rice - uncooked |
2 | -- (8 oz) cans tomato sauce | |
1 3/4 cups | 414ml | Hot water |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1 | Pepper |
Heat oil in large fry pan. Add onion, green pepper, beef and rice.
Stir over high heat until lightly browned. Add tomato sauce and remaining ingredients. Mix well and bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer 25 minutes. Before serving, 1/2 cup grated cheese may be added. (Oil can be omitted or reduced if the beef, onion and green pepper are started first and then the rice is added.)
