2 lbs | 908g / 32oz | Onions - sliced (medium) |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Packed brown sugar |
1 | Frozen lima beans | |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Water |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Vinegar and lemon juice |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Ground ginger |
4 teaspoons | 20ml | Carrots - cut in >>>>> (medium) |

Trim excess fat from ribs. Brown in skillet and drain off excess grease. Add water, onions, vinegar, salt, pepper and bay leaf.
Heat to boiling, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add frozen beans, carrots, brown sugar and ginger. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 45 minutes. Remove vegetables, make gravy.
Gravy: 1 1/2 cup beef broth; 3 tbs. flour; 1/3 cup water. Mix ingredients and cook until smooth and thick.
