Ground Beef In Pita Recipe - Cooking Index

2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Chopped onion |
1 | Garlic - minced | |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Minced green pepper |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Ground beef |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Prepared mustard |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Oregano |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
Freshly ground black pepper | ||
1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | Peeled - seeded and chopped tomatoes |
Heat the bread in a low oven. Heat the butter in a skillet and saute the onion, garlic and pepper until just soft; do not brown. Add the beef, mustard, oregano, salt and a generous amount of pepper.
Cook, stirring, until the meat is no longer red. At the last minute stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook briefly.
Cut the pitas in half and stuff the pouches. Makes 4 generous servings.
