Cucumber Yogurt Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
3/4 lb | 340g / 11oz | Cucumber - (coarsely |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Green chiles - (hot), grated) |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Cumin seeds - whole |
1 cup | 237ml | Yogurt - plain |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Garlic - (finely chopped) |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vegetable oil |
Salt - to taste (optional) |
Toast cumin seeds in small, heavy skillet until browned. Do not burn. When they start to crackle, remove from heat, shaking skillet. Combine all ingredients. Blend well and chill.
NOTES:
* A Mideast-style sauce with cucumbers and yogurt -- This recipe came originally from the local paper, years ago. They liked it with lamb.
