Bechamel Sauce - Adventures In Microwave Cooking Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter or margarine |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Grated onion |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | All-purpose flour |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Chicken broth |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Half-and-half |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | White pepper |
1 | Ground thyme |
1. Melt butter in a 1-quart glass measuring pitcher in microwave oven (about 30 seconds at High).
2. Add onion and flour; mix well. Add broth and half-and-half gradually, stirring constantly.
3. Cook uncovered 5 minutes at High, or until thickened; stir after 2 minutes, then every 30 seconds.
4. Remove from oven; stir in seasonings.
Yield: About 1 cup.
