2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter |
1 | Onion | |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Fresh ground pepper |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Flour |
1 cup | 237ml | Beef stock - or beef bullion |
Salt - to taste |
Melt the butter in a sauce pan and add the onion.
When the butter is barely brown, stir in the pepper and flour and cook slowly until the flour is brown.
Gradually add the stock, stirring and boil gently for 1 minute.
Remove the onion, add salt, turn the heat to simmer and cook 15 minutes.
Add more liquid if the sauce is too thick.
