Basic Pizza Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
| 1/4 cup | 23g / 0.8oz | Minced fresh basil | 
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Dried basil | 
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dried oregano | 
| 1/4 cup | 59ml | White wine | 
| 1/2 cup | 31g / 1.1oz | Grated onion | 
| 2 teaspoons | 10ml | Minced garlic | 
| 2 teaspoons | 10ml | Olive oil | 
| 3 cups | 187g / 6.6oz | Coarsely chopped plum tomatoes | 
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Tomato paste | 
1. In a small bowl steep basil and oregano in white wine for 10 minutes.
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute onion and garlic in olive oil for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add tomatoes and tomato paste, then steeped herbs and wine. Cover and cook 15 minutes.
3. Remove sauce from heat and puree in a blender or food processor. Sauce may be used on pizza or over pasta.
Makes about 3 cups.
