Steamed Slaw Recipe - Cooking Index
1 cup | 237ml | Cabbage head (medium) |
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Onions - sliced in thirds (medium) |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Sugar |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Oil |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Cider vinegar |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Salt |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Pepper |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Celery salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dry mustard |
In ceramic dish, layer cabbage -- shredded with onions.
Sprinkle sugar over the layers.
Whisk together and bring to boil the oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and other spices.
Pour mixture over cabbage; seal tightly and refrigerate 24 hours. Mix well before serving.
Optional: can add celery *seeds* and dash cayenne; substitute 3 bell peppers for one of the onions.
