2 tablespoons | 30ml | Salad oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Flour |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Sugar |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Prepared mustard |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Water |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Vinegar |
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Cooked ham - in thin strips |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Onion rings |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Green pepper - in thin strips |
1 cup | 237ml | Thin unpared cucumber slices |
1/2 cup | 55g / 1.9oz | Celery - sliced |
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Tomatoes - in thin wedges |
4 cups | 948ml | Lettuce - in bite-size pieces |
3 | American cheese - cut in thin strips | |
2 | Hard cooked eggs - sliced |
For dressing, mix oil, flour, sugar, mustard, water, and vinegar in a large frying pan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil. Mix ham, onion, green pepper, cucumber, and celery with dressing.
Cook covered over medium heat until heated through, about 4 to 5 minutes. Stir several times during cooking.
Remove from heat.
Toss gently with tomatoes and lettuce.
Garnish with cheese strips and egg slices.
