Caramelized Carnitas (Pork) Recipe - Cooking Index
1 1/2 lbs | 681g / 24oz | Boneless pork shoulder |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Brown sugar - packed |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Tequila |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Molasses |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Black pepper |
2 | Garlic - finely chopped | |
1/3 cup | 78ml | Water |
1 | Green onion with top - sliced |
1. Cut pork into 1-inch cubes. Place cubes in single layer in a 1-inch skillet.
2. Top with remaining ingredients, except for green onion.
3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat.
4. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally until water has evaporated and the pork is slightly caramelized, about 35 minutes.
5. Sprinkle with green onion and serve with wooden picks.
