Herb Cheese Bread (1 PT)

Serves: 12 people

Recipe Ingredients

1/4 cup 49g / 1.7ozReduced-calorie margarine
1/4 cup 15g / 0.5ozMinced green onion
2   Garlic - crushed
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlDried oregano
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlGround cumin
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlCrushed red pepper
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlSalt
1   Italian bread - split
1/2 cup 73g / 2.6ozMonterey jack cheese - shredded
  - lowfat if possible

Recipe Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 oF. Melt margarine in a small skillet over

medium-high heat. Add green onions and garlic; saute 2 minutes. Stir in

oregano, cumin, red pepper, and salt. Brush margarine mixture evenly on

cut sides of bread. Sprinkle cheese over bottom half of loaf; top with

top half of loaf. Wrap in foil; bake at 400 oF for 20 minutes. Serve

warm. Yield: 12 servings.
