1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Reduced-calorie margarine |
1/4 cup | 15g / 0.5oz | Minced green onion |
2 | Garlic - crushed | |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Dried oregano |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Ground cumin |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Crushed red pepper |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Salt |
1 | Italian bread - split | |
1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Monterey jack cheese - shredded |

Preheat oven to 400 oF. Melt margarine in a small skillet over
medium-high heat. Add green onions and garlic; saute 2 minutes. Stir in
oregano, cumin, red pepper, and salt. Brush margarine mixture evenly on
cut sides of bread. Sprinkle cheese over bottom half of loaf; top with
top half of loaf. Wrap in foil; bake at 400 oF for 20 minutes. Serve
warm. Yield: 12 servings.
