3/4 lb | 340g / 11oz | Unsalted butter or margarine - or beef suet |
3/4 lb | 340g / 11oz | Raisins |
3/4 lb | 340g / 11oz | Currants |
3/4 lb | 340g / 11oz | Sultanas |
3/4 lb | 340g / 11oz | Chopped apples |
3 oz | 85g | Citron |
3 oz | 85g | Candied lemon peel |
3 oz | 85g | Candied orange peel |
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Almonds |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Cinnamon |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Mace |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Allspice |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | White pepper |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Brandy |
PREHEAT OVEN TO 325F.
Combine all ingredients and grind twice through the finest blade of your meat grinder. Place in a lidded oven-proof pot and place in the oven. Bake for 40 minutes.
Remove from oven and stir in brandy. Store the mincemeat in a cool place for at least 1 week before using, or up to 6 months.
