Traditional Chess Pie Recipe - Cooking Index
3 | Eggs - beaten | |
1 1/2 cups | 297g / 10oz | Sugar |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Melted butter |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Plain white cornmeal |
1/3 cup | 78ml | Buttermilk |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Vanilla |
1 | Unbaked pie shell |
Preheat oven to 375F.
Beat 3 eggs with a whisk. Add 1 and 1/2 cup sugar, 3 TBS. melted butter, 1 TBS plain white cornmeal, 1/3 cup buttermilk, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 and 1/2 tsp vanilla.
Mix well, pour into unbaked pie shell
Bake at 375F on bottom rack for 15 minutes., then reduce heat to 350F, and bake 20 min more until knife comes out clean.
