Peach Cobbler - Grandpa's Recipe - Cooking Index
4 cups | 948ml | Peaches, fresh or frozen |
1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Sugar |
3 3/4 cups | 234g / 8.3oz | Flour |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Melted butter |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Shortening |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Water |
Preheat oven to 400F. Put peaches in bottom of an 8 x 8 pan. Bake in oven until peaches start to simmer.
Mix together the sugar and the 3 tbs of flour and sprinkle over the peaches. Add melted butter.
Put remaining flour into a bowl; add salt and shortening and work with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse oatmeal.
Mix in water to form a stiff sough.
Roll out dough on lightly floured board into a square large enough to fit over the peaches.
Prick pastry with fork and bake for 35-40 minutes.
