Grandma's Apple Pie Recipe - Cooking Index
Crust | ||
2 1/4 cups | 140g / 4.9oz | All-purpose flour |
3/4 cup | 148g / 5.2oz | Crisco shortening |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Salt |
1/3 cup | 78ml | Ice water |
Filling | ||
Fine granny smith apples - peeled & cut | ||
1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Sugar |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Flour |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Cinnamon |
Butter & milk |
You can do the crust in a food processor if you don't like stirring. Split in half, and line 9" pie plate with one half.
Cut apples in thin slices. Combine sugar, cinnamon, flour, and pour over apples. Place apple mixture in bottom crust of 9" pie plate. Dot with butter.
Put on top crust, making vents to allow steam to escape. Brush top crust with milk and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake at 450F for 15 minutes, then turn down to 375F for 25-30 minutes.
