German Chocolate Pie - 2 Recipe - Cooking Index
1 | German sweet chocolate - 4 oz | |
1/4 cup | 49g / 1.7oz | Butter |
12 oz | 340g | Evaporated milk |
1 1/2 cups | 297g / 10oz | Sugar |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Cornstarch |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Salt |
2 | Eggs | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla extract |
1 | Unbaked deep dish pie shell | |
1 1/2 cups | 139g / 4.9oz | Coconut |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Pecans - chopped |
In a saucepan, combine chocolate and butter. Melt over low heat.
Remove from the heat and blend in milk; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Beat in eggs and vanilla. Blend in melted chocolate; pour into pie shell.
Combine coconut and pecans; sprinkle on top of pie.
Bake at 375F for 45 minute. I have left out the coconut on occasion when some of my kids didn't like it. Believe me, this disappears fast.
