Delicious Apple Pie Recipe - Cooking Index
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Water |
4 teaspoons | 20ml | Cornstarch |
1 | Egg - beaten | |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Light cream |
3/4 cup | 148g / 5.2oz | Sugar |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Ground nutmeg |
4 teaspoons | 20ml | Red delicious apples - peeled/sliced (medium) |
Pastry for double-crust pie - 9" size | ||
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter or margarine |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Milk |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Cinnamon sugar |
In a small bowl, mix water and cornstarch until dissolved. Add egg, cream sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Place apples in a large bowl; pour cream mixture over and stir to coat. Line a 9" pie pan with half of pastry.
Pour apple mixture into crust; dot with butter. top with remaining pastry; flute edges and cut slits in top.
Brush with milk and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
Bake at 350F for 55 minutes or until golden brown.
Yield: 6-8 servings.
