Apple Streusel

Recipe Ingredients

6   Apples - tart, peeled, cored and sliced
1/3 cup 65g / 2.3ozSugar
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlCinnamon
1/4 cup 59mlOrange juice
3/4 cup 46g / 1.6ozFlour - all purpose
1 teaspoon 5mlBaking powder
4 tablespoons 60mlMargarine
2/3 cup 106g / 3.7ozBrown sugar
1   Egg
1/4 cup 36g / 1.3ozWalnuts - chopped (optional)

Recipe Instructions

Preheat oven to 350F. Add the sugar, cinnamon, and orange juice to the apples. Mix lightly and place in a greased 1 1/2 qt. casserole.

Sift together the flour and baking powder.  Cut the margarine into the flour and rub with your fingertips to a crumbly consistency.

Mix the brown sugar and egg. Add the mixture, along with the nuts, to the flour mixture.  Sprinkle the streusel over the apple mixture. Bake 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust golden brown.
