Olive oil | ||
1/2 lb | 227g / 8oz | Italian sausage |
1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Onion - chopped (medium) |

3 cups | 711ml | Water |
1 | Chicken-flavored bullion | |

1 | Bay leaf | |
1 | Great northern beans -- | |
Undrained | ||
2 | Celery - sliced | |
6 | Baby carrots - cut into | |
Matchsticks | ||
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dried parsley |
Salt and freshly ground | ||
Pepper - (lots of pepper!) |
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover and simmer for an hour or so.
Then add: 2 cups of "salad macaroni" and more water, if necessary, and simmer until the pasta is done (about 15 minutes).
Serve with crusty french bread and the wine of your choice.
