Crockpot Grains Recipe - Cooking Index
1/4 cup | 59ml | Millet - uncooked |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Barley - uncooked |
1/3 cup | 53g / 1.9oz | Brown rice - uncooked |
1 | Onion - chopped | |
1 cup | 146g / 5.1oz | Green pepper - chopped |
1/2 cup | 55g / 1.9oz | Carrot - chopped |
16 oz | 454g | Kidney beans - cooked, drained |
8 oz | 227g | Tomato sauce |
16 oz | 454g | Tomatoes - canned |
16 oz | 454g | Canned corn - drained |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dried oregano |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Dried basil |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Garlic powder |
Salt and pepper - to taste |
Combine all ingredients in a crockpot, putting grains in last. Add water to reserved tomato liquid to equal 2 1/2 cups. Stir into crockpot.
Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
Stir well before serving.
Add 4 ounce can of diced green chili to add more zip.
