Yelimichai Sadham (Lemon Rice)

Recipe Ingredients

250   Rice
50   Oil
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlMustard seeds
1 teaspoon 5mlUrad dal
1 teaspoon 5mlChana dal
4   Red chiles - cut into pieces
2 sections  Curry leaves
2 1/2   Ginger - julienne
2   Green chiles
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlTurmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlAsafetida
  Salt to taste
2   Lemons - juice of
100   Cashew nuts - fried
50   Coriander leaves - chopped

Recipe Instructions

BOIL rice until three-fourths done and cool. Heat oil and season with mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, red chile pieces and curry leaves. Add chopped ginger and stir lightly. Add green chiles and toss. Add turmeric powder, asafetida and salt. Toss the cooked rice in this mixture, sprinkle lemon juice and cook for a few minutes more. Serve hot, garnished with fried cashew nuts and chopped coriander leaves.
