Carrot And Apple Tzimmes Recipe - Cooking Index
4 cups | 440g / 15oz | Grated carrots |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Fine barley |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Grated apples |
8 tablespoons | 120ml | Butter or fat |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Water |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Sugar |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Nutmeg |
Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pan. Cover and cook over low heat 2 hours, or until the barley is soft. Watch carefully while cooking and add more water if necessary. Serves 6.
