Usal - Savory Bean Sprouts - W. India Recipe - Cooking Index
| 1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Cumin seeds | 
| 1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Ground turmeric |

| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Chili powder | 
| 3 tablespoons | 45ml | Oil | 
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Onion - finely chopped (medium) | 
| 1 lb | 454g / 16oz | Bean sprouts | 
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt | 
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Lime juice | 
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Coriander leaves - chopped | 
Grind together cumin, turmeric, garlic and chili powder to find paste. Heat oil and fry onion until golden brown. Add ground paste and fry with onion for 1 minute. Add bean sprouts and salt and mix with spices and stir fry 2-3 minutes. Add lime juice. Cover and cook on low heat for another 2-3 minuts. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
