Tomato Dal (Tomato Pappu) Recipe - Cooking Index
| 1 cup | 237ml | Tur gram - (toor or toovar dal) |
| 4 | Ripe tomatoes | |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Cumin seeds |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Black mustard seeds |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Peeled broken black gram dal - (urad dal) |
| 2 | Green chiles | |
| 1 | Onion | |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Oil |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Chile powder |
| 1 section | Curry leaves | |
| Salt - to taste |
1. Boil tur gram and keep aside.
2. Chop tomatoes, onion and green chiles.
3. Fry cumin seeds, mustards seeds, black gram and curry leaves. Add onion and green chiles. After a minute, add tomatoes.
4. Add tur gram, half a glass of water, salt and chile powder. Cook until thick. Stir.
